Paw Paws Vet Clinic is an independent practice (reviews refer to “Ron, the owner”) that’s been operating for over 10 years, and it treats a wide mix of pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters and guinea pigs. The clinic appears set up for routine preventative care (vaccines, deworming, parasite prevention, microchipping) as well as ongoing medical problems and sensitive end‑of‑life support.
Concrete examples owners mention include: a long, unhurried euthanasia appointment for a dog with heart failure (the family stayed over an hour); support during emergencies for an active dog with injuries; and a structured “process of elimination” approach discussed for chronic skin/allergy issues (including a biopsy in one case). Reviews also show mixed experiences with front‑desk interactions (one reviewer singled out a receptionist as rude).

We have been bringing our 3 dogs here with a while and have always been very happy with the service. Ron, Mesut and all the team genuinely care and could not be nicer. Our 12 year old darling Whippet was in the final stages of heart failure and we discussed it with Mesut who advised to spend a few weeks with him and bring him back to be put to sleep. On the day of, we were treated with such compassion that it made the whole process so much easier. We were not rushed in any way and stayed with our baby for over an hour. Both Ron and Mesut were also quite emotional. I highly recommend this vets practice to anyone who loves their furbabies and want them to receive the best care possible.

We have a Basset Hound that's been suffering with a prolonged nagging skin condition the past few months. We've altered his diet and he's been to a local vet twice (in Galway) and received prescriptions of oral steroids which reduced inflammation but the vet was reluctant to prescribe them long term. After consulting the internet we learned we are not alone and this breed of dog is notorious for suffering with skin allergies. I contacted Paws Paws in Cork as I found they had stocked a special shampoo recommended by other basset hound owners online for similar skin conditions. Their staff were unbelievably knowledgeable, courteous and professional to chat with and although the problem is a lot more complex than I had initially believed, they advised me on the next steps we should take to resolve it; a process of elimination and trying different treatments until we found the most effective one as there were many. The conversation over the phone was very insightful and helpful, very grateful to the individual I spoke with over the phone for sharing his high level of expertise!

The staff here are absolutely lovely. They did my kittens first vaccine and check up and were brilliant. Very informative and their pet plans are extremely affordable. Highly recommend this place!

5 stars for Musa the Vet, 0 for the Receptionist, found him quite rude, unfortunately.

This clinic is very dissatisfied with our dog's skin problems. First they treated it with medication, then they did a biopsy, it cured it for a while, but the problems keep recurring. They don't even try to make sure our pet gets better and doesn't have to go every 2 months. Very disappointed. I don't recommend this clinic to anyone.

We’ve been bringing our energetic Border Collie, Charlie, to this clinic since she was a baby—almost 4 years now—and Paw Paw has truly become like family to us. Charlie is a very active girl and has had her fair share of injuries, but the team has always been incredibly supportive, especially during emergencies. Dr. Mesut is dedicated, compassionate, and always goes the extra mile. Ron, the owner, has genuinely become part of her pack. Despite all the visits over the years, Charlie absolutely loves coming here, which says so much about how gentle, caring, and kind everyone is. The bond they’ve built with her is something truly special. We’re moving soon, but we’ll continue coming back—it’s more than worth the drive. The quality of care, the warmth of the people, and the love they show for the animals is priceless. We highly, highly recommend Paw Paw to anyone looking for a vet that truly cares.

I lived in Cork for a while and always took Laquiê 🐈⬛ to PawPaws Clinic with Dr. Mesut for her routine check-ups, vaccines, deworming and travel preparations. Every visit was a great experience! Dr. Mesut and the team were always super attentive, kind, and helpful. They explained everything clearly, checked if I had any questions, gave great advice for her future care, and were very accommodating whenever I needed to reschedule. I always felt my cat was in really good hands. Highly recommend PawPaws! Such a caring and professional team!
